Mother-of-two took on a second job to earn extra cash but success has brought a lifestyle far away from 9-to-5 office drudgery
SELLING cleaning products may not sound like a glamorous job but for Adele De Caso it has brought her a dream life.
The 33-year-old former hospital technician works as a distributor for Kleeneze, one of the largest home shopping companies in the world.
Adele and her husband Jaime first got involved in selling Kleeneze’s products eight years ago on a part-time basis. But after realising the massive income potential, they gave up their full time jobs to concentrate on growing their business, which now brings an average of £5,000 each month.
Adele and Jaime have a team of around 200 people in Stoke-on-Trent and throughout the country, who sell around 2,000 Kleeneze products including cleaning materials such as mops and brushes.
The Bristol-based company, which is about to launch in Holland and Germany, also supplies health products such as vitamins and has recently branched out into garden furniture.
The mother-of-two, from Trentham, says the career move has changed her life: “We were able to go on more holidays, buy a new car and we started to get really excited about our financial future.
“Going to work no longer seemed a chore, because we had more financial security and we knew that it would only be a matter of time before we could leave our jobs behind.
“Getting involved with Kleeneze has most definitely changed our lives for the better, I am able to work the business from home around the children and the best thing of all is I don’t have a boss. It’s like a franchise system, the company has already built up its reputation.”
Adele says her day varies everyday depending on the number of appointments she has.
Her typical day starts at around 7am when she gets up and does the normal routine of showering, breakfast and getting her two children ready for school or nursery.
After dropping them off around 9am, she takes her half hour appointments with people who are interested in getting involved with the company. Adele explains the benefits and how to get involved.
She also ensures catalogues are ordered, that the adverts are placed in shop windows and every Wednesday she drops leaflets through people’s doors.
She explained: “If there is an area we know is not being covered we will do a flyer drop.
“Some people have preconceived ideas that it is door knocking, but it’s not like that and I have never worked in sales. We simply push the catalogue through people’s doors and it’s up to them whether they buy anything but it is so popular, they are products people will buy, especially elderly people who find it difficult to get out.”
The job is so flexible that Adele works around caring for her two children who she picks up around 3.30 pm.
Every month she also holds induction meetings for people joining the company.
“We help people to get what they want out of it. Some will want £50, others will earn £200,000,” said Adele.
As well as the financial rewards, Adele and Jaime have been awarded trips to Australia, Malaysia and Monte Carlo for their achievements.
The company, which was setup in 1923 and is now listed on the London Stock Exchange, has paid out more than £80 million in the last four years to its distributors.
Adele explains: “The company is able to give so many financial rewards because it does not have the costs of premises or staff. The main costs are the warehouse and the delivery charges. No advertising is done either.”
Adele says her job has taken her away from the rat race.
As a child her ambition was to become a dancer before she changed her mind and chose to pursue a career as a vet.
“When I decided to turn my intentions to becoming a vet I had to choose all science based subjects at college, but my grades weren’t good enough.
“Because I was stuck with science subjects I studied environmental and biological sciences at Staffordshire university. ”
During her studies Adele worked in a video shop.
After university she worked in a hotel, servicing rooms before she took a job in the pathology lab of a hospital.
“I enjoyed the job at first and the responsibility, but in the end I was fed up of the mundane 9-5 routine.
“Jaime and I, like most people, were working so hard to earn a decent living we didn’t have any quality of life.
“We were then recommended an opportunity to work with Kleeneze in our spare time and build up a second income that could potentially overtake our salaries and leave us no longer requiring full time jobs.
“Having seen so many success stories from ordinary people working a very simple system, we realised we had nothing to lose.”
Adele and Jaime invested around £100 initially and saw a profit of £265 in the first month. Within nine months, working 15 hours a week, their monthly profits rose to more than £1,200.
Adele said she was amazed. “It is hard to believe but we now have our dream life and we have the time to spend together as a family.”
Pros: the most satisfying part is helping other people to do well.
Cons: when I speak to people over the phone and it is hard to get my point across. I wish I could transfer my understanding of the business and the way it works into someone else’s head.
